Effect of Pixel Size to Tonal Reproduction (4 slides, #4)
The pixel size has significant effects on the tonal values produced. The amount of increase in the covered area however is also heavily dependent on the screen. A dispersed dot screen shows a much higher increase than a clustered dot screen. Three clustered dot screens and one dispersed dot screen are shown as examples. The square on the left shows the screen as gray valued pixel array. The curves in the right diagram show the effects of changing pixel size with regard to the produced tonal values.
