CIE UCS of 1960 and 1979 (2 slides, #2)
The CIE XYZ and CIE xyY systems are computationally simple regarding the combination of colors. The distance of colors however are perceived quite different from the distance of the respective loci of colors in these color spaces. The diagrams show proposed solutions of CIE to correlate the distance in the color system and the perceived distance of colors. UCS stands for uniform color system and signifies (the attempt of) perceptually equal distant color systems. The system of 1960 is based on the uv-coordinate system, the system of 1979 on the u´v´-coordinate system.
