These images and videos were screened at the Education Committee Booth throughout the week at SIGGRAPH 2018 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The curated exhibit was open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels. All submissions were required to be accompanied by the assignment, in PDF format. The assignments are shared below with fellow educators around the world for use in their classrooms.

Congratulations to the following schools whose student work was accepted into the 7^th Annual Faculty Submitted Student Work Exhibit for SIGGRAPH 2018 in Vancouver, BC, Canada!!

The double-curated exhibit will be screened throughout the conference August 12^th - August 16^th at the Education Committee booth located in The Village.

Following the conference, the exhibit and all associated project assignments/instructions will be downloadable in PDF format on the Education Committee website for educators.

A BIG thank you to all the schools who participated and submitted their student's amazing work this year!!

PURPOSE:

The exhibit gives your school the opportunity to showcase your student’s best work to the rest of the industry. After the conference, the entire presentation will be posted on the Education Committee website along with the corresponding project assignments to share with fellow faculty.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty/School - No individual student submissions accepted
Assignment(s) of submitted student work MUST accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted. PDF format preferred. Student work will NOT be accepted without corresponding assignments.
All submissions will use the provided PowerPoint Template
- FFSW_Template_2018.ppt
Still Images
- Images should be placed in the PowerPoint template.
- Metadata filled in.
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 (JPG/TIFF/PNG format/RGB)
- LIMIT: 50 images per school/university
Video
- Please upload all videos individually to either YouTube.com or Vimeo.com.
- Send video URLs (Word doc).
- Please DO NOT send actual videos.
- Screen caps/still images of videos should be included.
- Metadata filled in.
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Audio can be included (*may or may not be audible during the conference)
- Video can be short individual clips or full projects/films.
- Videos will be downloaded and embedded in the final PowerPoint screened at the conference. After the conference, the still image and URL will replace the videos in the downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
- LIMIT: 10 minutes of video per school/university
Metadata for all images and videos include:
- Student(s) name
- School name
- Program/Department
- Faculty name
- Project name

SUBMISSION METHOD OPTIONS:

Public folder in Dropbox.com, Hightail.com, WeTransfer.com or other similar file-sharing site with links sent to curator (Kevin.McNulty[at]mtsu.edu).
Physical DVD or flash drive (not returned) snail-mailed to curator (Kevin McNulty).
Due to the anticipated size of files, direct EMAIL of submissions will NOT be accepted.

SIGGRAPH Education Committee retains the right to archive the project description on our web site for fair use by other faculty.

Materials will be licensed under the Creative Common Attribution - NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0.

Call for Groovy Graphics Assignments

Inspired by SIGCSE “Nifty Assignments,” Groovy Graphics Assignments are course assignments relating to computer graphics and interactive techniques that have been designed, tested and made available to the SIGGRAPH community by educators of all levels. While SIGCSE Nifty Assignments are primarily targeted at classes early in the CS curriculum (CS0/CS1), Groovy Graphics Assignments are typically targeted later in the CS curriculum (CS2 and beyond). Because of their application focus they are generally more applicable to upper division speciality and elective courses. Groovy Graphics Assignments are archived, along with all the materials needed to import the assignments into your classes, on the Computer Graphics Educational Materials Source (CGEMS) website.

SpaceTime 2018: Call for Submissions

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried International Student Poster Competition and Online Exhibition 2018.

The SpaceTime competition provides an excellent opportunity for students currently attending school in either traditional academic setting or home school at either the College/University levels or High School/Secondary levels and working in computer based media to exhibit their creative work nationally and internationally.

Entries will be judged

by international jurors on the basis of solution of the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence, and content. We are interested in ways to push the limits of the technology available or involve combinations of technologies.

The theme for SpaceTime 2018 is: “Generations” in keeping with the theme of 2018 conference. We are looking for posters that depict this idea.

Selected works will be exhibited at the SIGGRAPH Education Committee Booth at the 2018 Conference and included on the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee web site, and in promotional materials.

The first two winners will receive a non-transferable complimentary select conference registration to the SIGGRAPH 2018 Conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada, August 12-16, 2018, which does not include travel or lodging. The authors of accepted works will receive a letter, which may serve as a basis for applying for their schools’ grants to attend the conference.

The first three Winners will receive a Certificate.

You may include text in the poster design as long as it suits the theme.

A minimal use of text is suggested.

Submission Requirements:

One entry per student.

Send a jpg file:
- Image size is A3 (11.7” x 16.5”--297 x 420 mm) 300-ppi RGB, JPG format.
- Name your file: firstname_lastname_s2018.jpg
Send a Word document named firstname_lastname_s2018.docx with:
- Student’s name: First Name, Last Name
- Title of Work
- Student’s email address
- School and Department/Program name with City and Country
- Professor's name
- A brief artist’s statement (maximum 250 words) and a brief technical statement (maximum 150 words)

You may include text in the poster design as long as it suits the theme. A minimal use of text is suggested.
You should not use any copyrighted imagery for your poster. You may use images released under a Creative Commons license that allows for derivative works, or images that are in the public domain.

Email attachments: one image, one statement sent to anna.ursyn [at] unco.edu, Cc: aursyn [at] gmail.com. (Please use both addresses to avoid getting lost in SPAM)

By submitting your work you state that no copyrighted images were used, and you agree that the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee retains the right to archive the project description on our web sites and promotional materials for fair use.
