The Faculty Submitted Student Work, or FSSW, is an online archive of assignment and project briefs as well as an exhibition of the student work created for those projects. Sponsored by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee and designed as a way for educators to share their project ideas across schools and disciplines, this annual exhibition of work during the SIGGRAPH conference also offers a venue for participants to see the student work. As the conference was virtual this year the video that would have been playing during the week at the Education Booth was avalable on this page, but now that the conference is over the online archive has all project briefs and links to the full length student works submitted and is avalaible to view here:

These images and videos were submitted as the best examples of student work done for projects and assignments for the 2019-2020 school year. The exhibit was open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels.

Dear XR Educators,

Do you have student XR, VR, AR works to share and showcase?

Wednesday August 26th, 2:00 - 3:00 (US Pacific time)
Birds of a Feather meeting: Postcards from the Immersive Edge and Bloopers from the Virtual Classroom

We would like to invite educators to share students' XR, VR and AR projects at the session.
Anyone with a valid SIGGRAPH pass can join the meeting, including a Basic pass.

Please send us images, a brief 1-min video or 360 image/video of your student works.

If you are interested in entering your student works, please contact Miho Aoki (maoki3[at]alaska.edu). We will send you a link for uploading files.

Call for Participation: 9th Annual Faculty Submitted Student Work Exhibition

PURPOSE:

The exhibit gives your school an opportunity to showcase some of your student’s best work to the rest of the industry during the conference. Submissions will be curated into a conference exhibition of approximately 90 minutes to emphasize the variety of student work and faculty/schools represented. The exhibit will be a taste of the content available on the website as all of the projects that were properly submitted will be posted on the Education Committee website along with the corresponding project assignments to share with fellow faculty.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty - No individual student submissions accepted
Work should have been completed within the prior two years and not been submitted previously
Assignment(s) of submitted student work MUST accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted. PDF format preferred. Student work will NOT be accepted without corresponding assignments.
All submissions should use the provided PowerPoint Template and can be downloaded here:
- FSSW_Template_2020.pptx
Still Images
- Images should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Metadata must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 (RGB, JPG/TIFF/PNG format)
- A LIMIT of 10 images per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
Video
- Please upload all videos to either YouTube.com or Vimeo.com.
- URLs should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Please DO NOT embed actual videos
- Screen captures or a representative still image of the video should be included in the powerpoint
- Metadata must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Audio can be included (*may or may not be audible during the conference)
- A LIMIT of 2 minutes of video per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
  - You can edit multiple student pieces into a reel for that assignment having a maximum length of 2 minutes and provide a slide for each student work and include a link to either each piece in its entirety or for the reel or both. If a reel is not created the curator may make selections of one or more pieces not to exceed 2 minutes per assignment
- Videos will be downloaded and embedded in the final PowerPoint and screened at the conference throughout the week. After the conference, the still image and URL provided will replace the videos in a downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
Metadata for all images and videos include:
- Assignment/Project name
- Student(s) name
- Faculty name
- Course name
- School name

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried International Student Poster Competition and Online Exhibition 2020.

Deadline May 15, 2020

The SpaceTime 2020 International Student Competition provides an excellent opportunity for students attending schools at the College/University levels or High School/Secondary levels to exhibit their computer-based media creative work nationally and internationally. Entries will be judged by international jurors on the basis of solution of the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence, and content.

The theme for SpaceTime 2020 is: “Think Beyond”, keeping with the theme of the 2020 conference.

Submission Requirements

One entry per student
- A minimal use of text is suggested.
- You should not use any copyrighted imagery for your poster, and you are responsible for copyright related issues.
File Specifications:
- Image size: 3508 × 4961 pixels - A3 (11.69” x 16.54” / 297mm x 420 mm) @ 300-ppi
- Color Mode: RGB (please no CMYK images)
- Image Format: JPEG (.jpg)
- Maximum file size: 2MB
- Name your image: firstname_lastname_s2020.jpg
On the submission form, you will be asked to provide an artist statement (up to 200 words) along with your technical statement (up to 200 words).
