Call for Participation: 14th Annual Faculty Submitted Student Work Exhibition

Sponsored by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee.

We are interested in your project assignments and the best examples of the work done by your students for that assignment.

Images, videos, and assignments to be displayed at the Education Committee booth during the SIGGRAPH 2025 conference in Vancouver. The materials will be archived on the education website after the conference.

Any content area related to computer graphics and interactive techniques; art, animation, graphic design, game design, architecture, visualization, real-time rendering, etc.

The double-curated exhibit is open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your students and school to get more exposure and to celebrate all the great work that gets created!!

Deadline Friday, June 6th, 2025

PROCESS:

Submissions will be curated into a conference exhibition video of approximately 60 minutes to emphasize the variety of student work and faculty/schools represented. The exhibit will be a taste of the content available on the website as all of the projects that were properly submitted will be posted on the Education Committee website along with the corresponding project assignments to share with fellow faculty.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty - No individual student submissions accepted
Student work should have been completed within the prior two years and not been submitted previously
Content submitted should not infringe on any third party's copyright(s) or other proprietary right(s) whatsoever and each faculty member needs to complete one ACM Release Form (linked from the submission form)
For schools located in the US, student signed FERPA release forms must be submitted for each student to have their name included in the labels of the work. Without a FERPA release the work can be shown but the students name can not be included in the label and no links to credited versions will be included in the archive
Assignment(s) of submitted student work MUST accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted. PDF format preferred. Student work will NOT be accepted without corresponding assignments.
All submissions should use the provided PowerPoint Template and can be downloaded here:

Still Images
- Images should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Labels must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 (RGB, JPG/TIFF/PNG format)
- A LIMIT of 10 images per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
Video
- Please upload all videos to either YouTube.com or Vimeo.com preferably allowing them to be downloadable
- URLs should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Please DO NOT embed actual videos
- Screen captures or a representative still image of the video should be included in the powerpoint
- Labels must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Audio can be included (*make sure it does not violate 3rd party copyrights)
- A LIMIT of 2 minutes of video per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
  - You can edit multiple student pieces into a reel for that assignment having a maximum length of 2 minutes and provide a slide for each student work and include a link to either each piece in its entirety or for the reel or both. If a reel is not created the curator may make selections of one or more pieces not to exceed 2 minutes per assignment
- Videos will be downloaded and embedded in the final PowerPoint and screened at the conference throughout the week. After the conference, the still image and URL provided will replace the videos in a downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
Labels for all images and videos include:
- Assignment/Project name
- Student name(s) only if signed FERPA release is included
- Faculty name(s)
- Course name(s)
- School name(s)

SpaceTime 2025: Call for Submissions

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried international student art/design competition and online exhibition for 2025. Students are asked to create a graphic poster for SIGGRAPH 2025, which is scheduled to take place in August in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The poster must refer directly to SIGGRAPH and include the word “SIGGRAPH” and/or the SIGGRAPH logo as part of the design. Inclusion of the dates (either the year and/or the month) and/or location of the conference on the poster is at the discretion of the designer.
SIGGRAPH is a global non-profit organization that serves the evolution of computer graphics and interactive techniques and has thousands of members that include innovative researchers, artists, architects, developers, filmmakers, scientists, educators and business professionals helping to build the future of digital art and interactive design. The theme for this poster must relate to the mission of SIGGRAPH. For guidance, a good theme to design around is “Immersive Futures: Blending Realities” looking at how these blended realities can enrich our lives and foster deeper connections with nature.

The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to exhibit their computer-based creative work. A selection of international jurors will judge entries based on the submitted work, relevance to SIGGRAPH, artistic merit, design quality, originality, technical excellence, content, and a review of the process to determine how the work was done.

Selected works may be exhibited by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee at the SIGGRAPH 2025 conference in Vancouver and/or the SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 conference in Hong Kong, online on the Education Committee website, and in promotional materials. Submission grants nonexclusive rights to ACM SIGGRAPH and the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee to display the work.

New for 2025: as part of this education-focused competition, students will be required to submit two images. One submission image will be the final poster, and the second will be a composite image showing the process of creation (this refers to in-progress images, scanned traditional media and/or digital sketches, screen captures, and AI text-based prompts). The progress images should be composited into one image for review by the judges. The use Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI or AI) is allowed (not required) but its use must be fully documented in the process image and technical statement. Text prompts and any individual manipulation of the AI program should also be made clear.

AI Guidelines: It is not required that any student use generative artificial intelligence to complete this project. AI may be used in this competition, but students should be aware of the possibility of bias, incomplete and/or inaccurate information, plagiarism, and issues of data privacy. Students are responsible for all information or work presented that is generated in any capacity with AI tools, must cite the use of AI, and document intermediate design steps showing text and prompts, including any images generated by AI. Tool(s) used must be cited. Do not simply copy and paste AI-generated material and claim it as your own.

It is expected that the first-place winner will receive one full conference registration or, if under the age of 18, two experience-level registrations (one for adult companion/guardian) plus tickets to the animation festival. Two runners up will each receive 50% off conference registration.

One entry per student. (A student who submits multiple entries will be disqualified.)
A minimal use of text is recommended.
Do not include the name (or logo/symbol) of the author, school, or other institution on the poster. While ownership of the poster and work remain with the student, the inclusion of any copyright notice or other personally identifiable information on the poster shall disqualify the submission.
A signed FERPA (United States Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1984) is required to be uploaded with the submission form.

Limitation/Restriction

Submissions must not use the intellectual property of others and respect all copyrights. Specifically, name/image/likeness (NIL) of products and people belong to the respective owner(s) and not the submitting artist. Any incorporation or use of recognizable products and/or trademarks will disqualify a submission. While generic examples of products may be shown (as well as original designs by the submitting artist), student artists are not permitted to use a product that can be easily identified with a specific company regardless or whether or not the trademarked name is used.

Winter 2025 SOIREE - Call for Participation

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee is seeking submissions for the Symposium On Innovation, Research & Experiences in Education (SOIREE), to be held virtually through Zoom on January 31, 2025.

The Symposium On Innovation, Research & Experiences in Education (SOIREE) is intended to provide a dynamic, conversational and accessible venue for educators involved in teaching or using computer graphics and interaction techniques in educational settings.

There will be no charge for participation or attendance. Session recordings will be published to YouTube and may be cited in the future similar to TED Talks and other video platform content. Given the accessibility of this symposium, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable feedback from peers, promote your work, and learn from others that are likewise focused on the intersection of Education and computer graphics and interaction.

Images, videos, and assignments to be displayed at the Education Committee booth during the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference in Denver. The materials will be archived on the education website after the conference.

Any content area related to computer graphics and interactive techniques; art, animation, graphic design, game design, architecture, visualization, real-time rendering, etc.

The double-curated exhibit is open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your students and school to get more exposure and to celebrate all the great work that gets created!!

PROCESS:

Submissions will be curated into a conference exhibition video of approximately 60-90 minutes to emphasize the variety of student work and faculty/schools represented. The exhibit will be a taste of the content available on the website as all of the projects that were properly submitted will be posted on the Education Committee website along with the corresponding project assignments to share with fellow faculty.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty - No individual student submissions accepted
Student work should have been completed within the prior two years and not been submitted previously
Content submitted should not infringe on any third party's copyright(s) or other proprietary right(s) whatsoever and each faculty member needs to complete one ACM Release Form (linked from the submission form)
For schools located in the US, student signed FERPA release forms must be submitted for each student to have their name included in the labels of the work. Without a FERPA release the work can be shown but the students name can not be included in the label and no links to credited versions will be included in the archive
Assignment(s) of submitted student work MUST accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted. PDF format preferred. Student work will NOT be accepted without corresponding assignments.

Still Images
- Images should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Labels must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 (RGB, JPG/TIFF/PNG format)
- A LIMIT of 10 images per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
Video
- Please upload all videos to either YouTube.com or Vimeo.com preferably allowing them to be downloadable
- URLs should be placed in the PowerPoint template
- Please DO NOT embed actual videos
- Screen captures or a representative still image of the video should be included in the powerpoint
- Labels must be filled in
- Preferred resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Audio can be included (*make sure it does not violate 3rd party copyrights)
- A LIMIT of 2 minutes of video per assignment/project will be used in the exhibit
  - You can edit multiple student pieces into a reel for that assignment having a maximum length of 2 minutes and provide a slide for each student work and include a link to either each piece in its entirety or for the reel or both. If a reel is not created the curator may make selections of one or more pieces not to exceed 2 minutes per assignment
- Videos will be downloaded and embedded in the final PowerPoint and screened at the conference throughout the week. After the conference, the still image and URL provided will replace the videos in a downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
Labels for all images and videos include:
- Assignment/Project name
- Student name(s) only if signed FERPA release is included
- Faculty name(s)
- Course name(s)
- School name(s)

Eurographic 2024 - Call for Education Papers

The scope of the track includes topics in education concerned with computer graphics and related areas, relevant teaching/classroom experience, as well as assignments for use in these subject areas. Eurographics invites authors to submit papers, panels and outstanding student projects specifically related but not limited to the following topics:

Teaching Computer Graphics courses to diverse audiences.
Teaching related areas such as Visualisation, Animation, VR/AR/XR, 3D printing, Game Development.
Designing and teaching online and hybrid courses in the areas mentioned above.
Enabling and exploiting visual tools and techniques to teach in other disciplines.
Promoting undergraduate research in Computer Graphics.

Eurographics invites authors to submit their contributions that fall into one of the following categories:

Regular papers [max. 8 pages]
- describing the experience of educators in the fields listed above, bringing ideas on how to make the education process more efficient and interesting, attracting students to further research work, discussing innovative opportunities, etc. Whenever possible, we encourage authors to provide evidence of their effectiveness.
(Catching) assignments [max. 4 pages]
- explaining real assignments, providing examples of handouts and starter codes and examples of student works. Explanations and descriptions of when and how to implement and facilitate the assignments in a semester (e.g., orchestration details) are highly recommended. Providing a description of the assessment method is also suggested. Authors may provide all relevant artifacts as supplementary materials during submission, and agree to provide access to them online upon acceptance.
Outstanding student projects (individual or group) [max. 2 pages]
- should describe the learning context for the project and show how the student(s) brought creativity to their work. Upon acceptance, authors are expected to demonstrate the project during their presentation.

The best regular papers will be recommended to the editors of prestigious journals in the field, Computer Graphics Forum, Computers and Graphics, and IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications, who may invite the authors of these papers to submit extended versions to their journals.

Anonymous submissions must be formatted according to the Eurographics Author’s guidelines. Submissions will be made electronically through the Eurographics Submission and Review Management (SRMv2) system and are subject to a review process.

About the Symposium On Innovation, Research & Experiences in Education

The symposium will be facilitated virtually, streamed live through Zoom and YouTube platforms, and there will be no charge for participation or attendance. Session recordings will be published to YouTube and may be cited in the future similar to TED Talks and other video platform content. Given the accessibility of this symposium, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable feedback from peers, promote your work, and learn from others that are likewise focused on the intersection of Education and computer graphics and interaction.

Submissions to this curated symposium will be reviewed by members of the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee.
The committee is seeking submission proposals for two Topic Areas ("Show Your Stuff", and "Technology in Education") and offers two format options for submission ("Fast Forward Video" and "Short Presentation")

Topic Areas

Show Your Stuff

The Show Your Stuff topic is your opportunity to share your research, innovations and experiences with colleagues in the education community. This can also be an opportunity to highlight your studios, classrooms and other facilities through submission of a 1-min Fast Forward format video (see more information below in the Session Formats section)

Had success with an innovative approach using or teaching computer graphics and interaction?
Have an interesting project, research or otherwise, related to computer graphics and interaction you would like to show?
Did you utilize an "alternative approach" to negotiating with administration or industry to gain access to funding or facilities for your SIGGRAPH related efforts?

If so, the Show Your Stuff Topic is for you!

The committee is also interested in 1-min. Fast Forward videos that highlight your studio spaces, classroom setups and other unique facilities. Facilities related submissions are preferred in Fast Forward format rather than short presentations.

Technology in Education

The Technology in Education topic is focused specifically on SIGGRAPH technology related innovation, research or experiences in the education space. For this topic, we are of course interested in the application of development and application of new technologies, but also novel repurposing of existing technologies from other sectors, or an interesting approach to resurrecting "old" tech (that others thought had past its prime).

Do you have experiences applying new SIGGRAPH related technologies in education?
Perhaps you're using a novel approach for SIGGRAPH tech-enhanced distanced teaching and learning?
Have you found a way to bring new life to an older technology within the SIGGRAPH Education space?

If so, the TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION Topic is for you!

Session Formats

Submissions may be in one of two session formats: "Fast Forward Video" or "Short Presentation"

Fast Forward Video

Fast Forward Videos are short (1 minute) pre-recorded videos related to one of the Topic Areas noted above.

Sessions utilizing this format will bring together several video submissions that share a related theme or subject area, with submissions authors participating in a live panel. Fast Forward Sessions will begin with a virtual screening of the selected videos, followed by a hosted discussion amongst the panelists including Q&A with attendees.

Note, a link to your completed 1-min video is required with each submission.

If accepted into the symposium program, updated videos will be permitted.

Short Presentation

Short Presentations are short (5 minute), live presentations related to one of the Topic Areas noted above. Sessions utilizing this format will begin with a collection of live, short talks from 2-4 presenters followed by discussion and Q&A.

SpaceTime 2024: Call for Submissions

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried international student art/design competition and online exhibition for 2024. The vehicle for this competition is a graphic poster for SIGGRAPH designed around the theme “the future of computer graphics and interactive techniques.”

The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to exhibit their computer-based creative work. A selection of international jurors will judge entries based on the solution of the theme, relevance to SIGGRAPH, artistic merit, design quality, originality, technical excellence and content.

Selected works may be exhibited by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee at the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference in Denver, Colorado and/or the SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 conference in Tokyo, Japan, online on the Education Committee website, and in promotional materials.

The first place winner will receive full conference registration. Two runners up will receive 50% off conference registration.
