These Images and videos were displayed at the Education Committee Booth SIGGRAPH 2014 in Vancouver, BC. The curated exhibit was open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels. All submissions were required to be accompanied by the assignment, in PDF format.

The SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsored the SpaceTime juried Student Poster Competition & and Online Exhibition 2014. The show will be on display at the Education booth during the conference in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty/School - No individual student submissions accepted
Still Images
- Resolution 1920x1080 (JPG format/RGB) image placed on PowerPoint template
- Template: FFSW_Template_2014.ppt
Video
- Resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Quicktime (.mov) or MPEG (.mp4)
- H.264 Compression
- Audio can be included
- Video can be short clips or full projects, we will edit all submissions together.
Assignment, in PDF format, must accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted.
Metadata includes:
- Student(s) name
- School name
- Program/Department
- Faculty name
- Project name
Limited to 50 images/videos per school or university

SUBMISSION METHOD:

VIDEOS
- Please upload all videos individually to either YouTube.com or Vimeo.com.
- Please do not send videos. Only images.
- Videos will be embedded in the final PowerPoint displayed at the conference. After the conference, the videos will be linked to in the downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
IMAGES
- Physical DVD or flash drive (not returned) mailed to curator (Kevin McNulty)
- Public folder in Dropbox.com with links sent to curator
- Use of Hightail.com to provide links to curator

Due to anticipated size of files, EMAIL of submissions will NOT be accepted

SIGGRAPH Education Committee retains the right to archive the project description on our web site for fair use by other faculty.

Materials will be licensed under the Creative Common Attribution - NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0.

SpaceTime 2014: Call for Submissions

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried International Student Poster Competition & and Online Exhibition 2014.

The SpaceTime competition provides an excellent opportunity for students currently attending school in either traditional academic setting or home school at either the College/University levels or High School/Secondary levels and working in computer based media to exhibit their creative work nationally and internationally.

Entries will be judged on the basis of solution of the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence, and content. We are interested in ways to push the limits of the technology available or involve combinations of technologies.

The theme for SpaceTime 2014 is “Naturally Digital” in keeping with the theme of 2014 conference. We are looking for posters that depict this idea.

Selected works will be exhibited at the SIGGRAPH Education Committee Booth at the 2014 Conference and included on the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee web site, and in promotional materials.

Three winners will receive a Conference Access registration to the SIGGRAPH 2014 Conference in Vancouver, Canada August 10-14 2014, which does not include travel or lodging. The authors of accepted works will receive a letter, which may serve as a basis for applying for their schools’ grants to attend the conference.

You may include text in the poster design as long as it suits the theme.

A minimal use of text is suggested.

Submission Requirements:

One entry per student.

Send a jpg file:
- Image size is A3 (11.7” x 16.5”--297 x 420 mm) 300-ppi RGB, JPG format.
- Name your file: firstname_lastname_s2014.jpg
Send a Word document with:
- Student’s name: First Name, Last Name
- Title of Work
- Student’s email address
- School name
- Program/Department name
- Faculty name
- A brief artist’s statement (maximum 250 words) and a brief technical statement (maximum 150 words)

You should not use any copyrighted imagery for your poster. You may use images released under a Creative Commons license that allows for derivative works, or images that are in the public domain.

You may use Hightail.com (formerly YouSendIt) to provide works to curator

By submitting your work you agree that SIGGRAPH Education Committee retains the right to archive the project description on our web sites and promotional materials for fair use.
