These Images and videos were displayed at the Education Committee Booth SIGGRAPH 2015 in Los Angeles, CA. The curated exhibit was open to all faculty working at Secondary/High School through University levels. All submissions were required to be accompanied by the assignment, in PDF format.

Sponsored by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee, the double curated exhibit showcases the best student work from schools all over the world. Additionally, as part of the criteria, faculty must also submit the assignments corresponding to the projects submitted. After the conference, the assignments and a PDF version of the exhibit will be made available to educators on the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee website.

The exhibit will be on display throughout the week during SIGGRAPH 2015 at the Village.

SpaceTime Gallery 2015

The International 2015 SpaceTime competition for students was announced matching this year's conference theme: "Xroads of Discovery."

The Winners:

The accepted works will be presented as a website at the Education Booth during the SIGGRAPH 2015 conference, and can also be viewed here.

About SpaceTime 2015

The deadline for entries was May 15th. The jurors scored the international entries without getting information about the entering students. The Jurors (chaired by Anna Ursyn, who was not voting), were:

The three winners will be offered a free conference access and will be invited to the Educators' Meet and Greet on Monday and Tuesday at the conference. They will be offered special diplomas.

Accepted works will be presented as a website at the Education Booth during the conference. A gallery will be built for this exhibition and posted at the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee’s website for permanent display during and after the conference.

We invited students from all over the planet. We advertised widely, and used various means of communication. The scoring system has been researched, and improved. We expanded our lists. We plan to continue with this important venue for the students worldwide with the 2016 theme, and encourage exploration of technological tools. We plan to advertise early, so students have enough time to develop challenging projects, and to alert more teachers and parents about this opportunity. The SPACE-Time Competition brings the following aspects to the conference:

Provides a springboard for further technical and artistic efforts. It encourages students to challenge themselves, and become active. Students are invited despite of their major. This means students studying any direction related to technology have a chance to experience this challenge. This expands the role of an artist, and encourages art majors to take technological challenges seriously, and technically inclined students to expand their interests toward visual solutions.
Provides service to some part of the SIGGRAPH technical community, and promotes SIGGRAPH and the conference among young specialists.
Broadens participation geographically, and among under-represented members of the SIGGRAPH community.

SIGGRAPH Trailer Contest

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee is proud to announce an exciting new initiative for 2015 called the “SIGGRAPH Trailer Contest”. Students are invited to create a 10 to 60 second trailer promoting the 2015 SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles. Mediums can be computer generated 2D, 3D, live action composites, stop motion or experiential techniques. A panel of judges assembled by the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee will vote on and decide the winner. A grand prize winner will be selected to receive a complimentary full conference registration to attend 2015 SIGGRAPH in LA. The trailer may be screened at the conference and posted online.

The majority of the work must be created by current students. Applicants must be full-time students in high school, undergraduate, or graduate school or enrolled full time for at least one semester during the 2014-2015 academic year (Summer 2014 – Spring 2015).

Any usage of the ACM SIGGRAPH logo must follow the guidelines listed here.

SpaceTime 2015: Call for Submissions

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee sponsors the SpaceTime juried International Student Poster Competition & and Online Exhibition 2015.

Deadline May 15, 2015

The SpaceTime competition provides an excellent opportunity for students currently attending school in either traditional academic setting or home school at either the College/University levels or High School/Secondary levels and working in computer based media to exhibit their creative work nationally and internationally.

Entries will be judged on the basis of solution of the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence, and content. We are interested in ways to push the limits of the technology available or involve combinations of technologies.

The theme for SpaceTime 2015 is “Xroads of Discovery” in keeping with the theme of 2015 conference. We are looking for posters that depict this idea.

Selected works will be exhibited at the SIGGRAPH Education Committee Booth at the 2015 Conference and included on the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee web site, and in promotional materials.

Three winners will receive a Conference Access registration to the SIGGRAPH 2015 Conference in Los Angeles, California August 9-13 2015, which does not include travel or lodging. The authors of accepted works will receive a letter, which may serve as a basis for applying for their schools’ grants to attend the conference.

You may include text in the poster design as long as it suits the theme.

A minimal use of text is suggested.

Submission Requirements:

One entry per student.

Send a jpg file:
- Image size is A3 (11.7” x 16.5”--297 x 420 mm) 300-ppi RGB, JPG format.
- Name your file: firstname_lastname_s2014.jpg
Send a Word document with:
- Student’s name: First Name, Last Name
- Title of Work
- Student’s email address
- School name
- Program/Department name
- Faculty name
- A brief artist’s statement (maximum 250 words) and a brief technical statement (maximum 150 words)

You should not use any copyrighted imagery for your poster. You may use images released under a Creative Commons license that allows for derivative works, or images that are in the public domain.

PURPOSE:

The exhibit gives your school the opportunity to showcase your student’s best work to the rest of the industry. After the conference, the entire presentation will be posted on the Education Committee website along with the corresponding project assignments to share with fellow faculty.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

By Faculty/School - No individual student submissions accepted
Assignment(s) of submitted student work, in PDF format, must accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted

Still Images
- Resolution 1920x1080 (JPG format/RGB) image placed on PowerPoint template
- Template: FFSW_Template_2015.ppt
Video
- Resolution 1280x720 or larger 16:9 aspect ratio format.
- Quicktime (.mov) or MPEG (.mp4)
- H.264 Compression
- Audio can be included
- Video can be short clips or full projects, we will edit all submissions together.
Assignment, in PDF format, must accompany all video(s) and image(s) submitted.

- Videos will be downloaded and embedded in the final PowerPoint displayed at the conference. After the conference, the videos will be linked to in the downloadable PDF version of the PowerPoint located on our site.
