Artist’s Statement
My artwork is inspired by the data structure of a binary tree. Conveniently, SIGGRAPH has eight letters, which initially led me to the idea. This resulted in a tree having three levels for a total of 2^3 = 8 leaves. The binary tree is an example of how nature can inspire technology. The copper tree is growing out of a chip to symbolize how these abstract concepts are concretely instantiated in silicon.
Technical Statement
I used Fusion to 3D model the tree. I created a sketch of 8 lines and then lofted each branch from the base using the 8 lines as guide rails. I rendered the model in Fusion and edited the resulting png to add a background and ‘SIGGRAPH 2025’ caption in Ibis Paint.
